Sugar Land Family Slayings to be Discussed on Oprah

by Jeanne on August 28th, 2008

murder by family

Kent Whitaker, whose son orchestrated the murders of his mother and brother, will talk about his experience and the book he has written on Oprah

The son, Thomas “Bart” Whitaker, was sentenced “to death in a Fort Bend County court last year for his role in the scheme that also sent two other men to prison.”

Can you imagine this type of horror happening in your family?  I’m sure you don’t even want to think about that!  It’s especially awful when it has to do with money.  In this case, Bart wanted to inherit the $1 million family estate so he thought he would kill his parents and brother to get it.  Not the brightest person, is he?

The book, titled Murder by Family, The Incredible True Story of a Son’s Treachery and a Father’s Forgiveness (buy it now!), will be released on September 23, 2008 by Howard Books.  I don’t know if I could read it but it sounds very interesting.

Thomas did not kill his family for the money. There was no money. Ask HIM why he did it, before you start saying he’s “not too bright”.

I do, actually, because I know him. And his dad. He didn’t do it for the money.

al you know is what you hear, i seriously doubt that you were friends with the whitakers. there is not just one reason as to why bart did it. he has a history of schemes under his belt and this just happens to be the most gruesome. as for the not too bright comment, i think it hit the nail on the head. bart thinks he is some sort of genuis but has no justification. money was definitely a reason he did it as you can’t start a new life with no money.

OK, Alex, you can think what you want. I am friends with him, currently. I do talk to him regularly. And what I am quoting; I have heard directly from him. Yes he’s manipulative…yes he’s a jerk..yes he has many a scheme under his belt, but money was not the reason he did this.
