The New Kids on the Block were on the Today show this morning where they performed their new track “Single” with Ne-Yo.  Have you heard the song before?  I only heard it for the first time yesterday and I have to say, as a long-time NKOTB fan, I was pleasantly surprised.  I didn’t know they had that kind of song in them and I certainly didn’t know that Joe McIntyre’s voice had improved so much (I still prefer Jordan Knight’s singing but that’s not the point). 

I will be going to their concert in November.  Anyone else still loving the New Kids?  I’d love to hear from other over-the-hill fans (and any new ones!).

Daytime talk show host, Kelly Ripa, attended the launch part of the Electolux Premiere laundry collection and I have to say that she looked really great!  I don’t know about the color of that washer and dryer but I really love front-load laundry sets.  I only upgraded this summer but I tell you that I will never go back (good thing since the top loaders are almost obsolete anyway).

Talk about an incredible guest list!  Talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey, has revealed who will be joining her for her season-opening Olympic episode.  It really is fantabulous when you think about it.  She’s got major stars including Michael Phelps (swimming) but, really, he’s just one of 175 Olympian Medallists who will be appearing on the show.  Here’s the complete list:

Actress Bonnie Hunt has decided to throw her hat in the ring and will be starring in her own talk show which is set to debut on Monday September 8, 2008.  If you remember, she used to play a talk show host on a sitcom called “Life With Bonnie” (it lasted only two years and I never really watched it, to be honest).  I’m not sure what kind of show this is going to turn out to be or what she’s going to be like as a host but I am kinda tired of all of these new talk shows.  Here’s what she said about the show: “We want to do something that is as smart as we can make it, and as complimentary to our audience — which will be mostly women at home each day.”

She added that the talk show is one of her favorite formats but feels that in the last decade, the quality has declined “and they usually go one of two ways. They’re either about celebrities or have a lot of DNA testing.”

I guess she’s being realistic about her competition since this funny commercial talks about her not being Oprah.

Rachael Ray and her cast got to hang out in New York City’s famous Central Park for a taping of the show.  They arrived in a unique double decker bus and filmed in front of the ‘boathouse’ section of the park in Manhattan.  I really like when talk shows get out of the studio and into the real world (plus, it’s nice to enjoy the summer!).  It looks like they had a lot of fun!  Check out these pictures!
